What Is Playball?
Playball is a movement and sports development programme for children aged 3-7, in which they are exposed to an array of sporting skills and important physical attributes such as coordination, balance and spatial awareness.
Children also learn essential life skills such as confidence, concentration, self-discipline and independence, all vital early learning goals that are basic building blocks for living successful lives, and essential to be put in place in these formative years of the childs life.
The main objective of Playball is to provide children with the opportunity to develop a host of necessary social, educational and personal skills. This is important to understand! We are a sports programme – but with the underlying goals firmly based in developing the child as a person, not necessarily as a sportsperson.
Social sport is accepted world wide as a fun, enjoyable passtime. Children love to play. However there is much more to sport than the actual activity itself.
At Playball we have taken this passtime, adapted it to the capabilities of the ages that we teach, and through sound and well researched teaching methods used sport and the various components thereof to assist children in the development of many aspects of their lives.
The programme was created in 1982 and is constantly being developed & updated by child development specialists, sports scientists and teachers. All lessons are designed specifically for each particular age and developmental level.
